Participants of
the Canadian Lakes Loon Surveys (CLLS) have provided a number of unique
observations of Common Loon pairs accompanied by, and rearing,
abnormally large broods. Three-chick loon broods are uncommon, and
four-chick broods are extremely rare. This paper documents CLLS-derived
records of Common Loons pairs rearing four-chick broods, some of which
are accompanied by photographic evidence.
