Elaine Secord -
Communications & Public Affairs Manager
I was born and raised
in Norfolk County, and many of my happiest days have been spent
exploring local woods, fields, ponds and beaches. I have been an
avid reader since childhood; my love of books led to work as a
researcher, writer and editor. I hold degrees in English Literature
(BA University of Waterloo, MA Queen's University) and Museum
Studies (MMST University of Toronto). I have spent most of my career
in the communications field, with stints in politics, publishing and
heritage. In my last job I oversaw communications and marketing
activities for the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in
Drumheller, Alberta, and also chaired the communications committee
of the Alliance of Natural History Museums of Canada. I joined Bird
Studies Canada as Communications & Outreach Specialist in January
2007.
