Audrey Heagy
Bird Conservation Planning Biologist

Telephone Ext. 214

I'm back at Bird Studies Canada wearing a new hat, as Canadian Migration Monitoring Network Development Coordinator.
For the past five years I've being getting lots of hands-on experience with birds as Bander-in-Charge at various migration monitoring stations in Ontario including Cabot Head on the Bruce Peninsula, Thunder Cape on Lake Superior and Prince Edward Point on Lake Ontario. Now I'm working at Long Point on Lake Erie but sitting at a desk most of the time.
I'm a life-long naturalist (spent most of childhood chasing butterflies, falling in ponds, etc.) and have a broad interest in natural history and conservation. I first got hooked on birds and bird banding as a teenager at a young ornithologist camp at Long Point Bird Observatory in 1975! In the 1990's I again spent time at Long Point Bird Observatory as a volunteer in the migration monitoring program and worked on staff at Bird Studies Canada for a few years.
In my spare time I try to work on my banding projects, travel to banding stations (mostly to see my husband who is a freelance bander), am active in several banding and naturalist organizations, take my mom for walks, and seem to throw a lot of Frisbees and sticks for big black dogs.
