I have been employed with BSC/LPBO since July, 1985. I am responsible for a variety of office- related tasks, the BSC library, management of BSC's properties, and BSC/LPBO's special events. I am also the person with the funny (Scottish) accent who usually answers the phone when you call! I grew up in Scotland and my family emigrated to Canada when I was nineteen. In keeping with my heritage, I organize a Rabbie (yes, that's "Rabbie", not "Robbie" ) Burns Dinner & Ceilidh as a fund raiser for my community each year. Carrying the haggis is the highlight of my year.
A friend introduced me to the world of birding and to the Bird Observatory in 1985. That resulted in my getting a little hooked on birding, becoming employed by LPBO, and meeting my husband, Ron. We live in St. Williams in the 160-year-old home of my dreams (Ron's nightmare) with our two dogs Quinn (named after my grandmother) & Tory. We also have a daughter , Arleen who lives in California and I have a little "sister" (through the Big Sisters Association) that I hang out with.
