Dr. Dave Ankney |
Dave Ankney recently retired as a Professor of
Zoology (Avian and Wildlife Ecology) at the University of Western Ontario.
His research focussed on bioenergetics of birds, primarily waterfowl,
and he supervised the research of 47 graduate students, all of whom
worked on birds. He is a Fellow of the American Ornithologists’ Union
and received Ducks Unlimited’s Professional conservation Achievement
Award in 1997. He is a Past-president of the Ontario Federation of Anglers
and Hunters, and led the OFAH’s drive to re-introduce Wild Turkeys to
Ontario. He currently serves as a member of the OFAH Board of Directors,
the Long Point Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Fund Board of Directors,
Bird Studies Canada Endowment Fund Committee, Scientific Advisory
Committee for Long Point Biosphere, and is on the Editorial Boards of Current
Ornithology and the Canadian Wildlife Services Occasional Paper
Series. He lives on Long Point and loves fishing, hunting, and
birding at here.
