My affiliation with Bird Studies
Canada started when I was doing my undergraduate degree in Environment
Resource Studies at the University of Waterloo. My advisors, Dr. Richard
Knapton, former director of the Long Point Waterfowl and Wetlands Research
Fund and Dr. George Francis gave me the opportunity to work on American
Wigeon diets at Long Point. Later, for my Masters, I continued to work on
waterfowl diets and completed submerged vegetation surveys of the Inner
Bay. My husband Steve and I moved to the Long Point area in 1997. Since
then I have had many roles at Bird Studies Canada and am currently
Coordinator of the Avian Energetics Lab and Coordinator of Project
FeederWatch . Our children, Megan and Jarred, also love the outdoors and
spend hours catching salamanders, turtles, snakes, watching bird banding,
and most recently, participating in Project FeederWatch.
