2004 Cross Canada Team

In 2004, Bird Studies Canada (BSC) formed a coast-to-coast team to raise funds for bird research and conservation through the Baillie Birdathon. Our team consisted of BSC representatives from across this great land:

Dick Cannings, British Columbia Program Manager and Canada's Christmas Bird Count Coordinator Jim Duncan, BSC National Science Council Advisory Council member and Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Program Coordinator Jon McCracken, Ontario Program Manager and Species at Risk Specialist Catherine Poussart, Coordinator of the Québec Marsh Monitoring Program Becky Whittam, Project FeederWatch Cooridinator and Atlantic Program Manager.

Thanks to 232 sponsors, Bird Studies Canada's Cross-Canada Birdathon was a terrific success, raising over $11,600. While not every bird that spends time in Canada was found by our team, an incredible 252 species were tallied! Of this total, only 22 species were seen by all 5 team members and 119 were seen by one team member only. Each team member had a unique and engaging Birdathon story to tell, and an exclusive excerpt from each adventure was reported back to all sponsors. Thank you!
