Migration Education Program

Bird Studies Canada has been monitoring migrating birds since 1960 at the Long Point Bird Observatory. As technologies improve, so do our methods of studying bird movements. The Motus Wildlife Tracking System, a program of Bird Studies Canada, is an exciting collaborative research network that uses a coordinated array of over 350 receiving stations to track bird movements. So far, nearly 100 species have been tagged for tracking.

With generous support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and NSERC PromoScience, Bird Studies Canada is working to bring this exciting research to the classroom. The Migration Education Program is presented in three parts: Building Knowledge, Tracking Birds, and Conservation at School. Our program connects to the Science curriculum for Grades 4-8.
